Use of "A" and "An " as an Article -- Part 2
Different uses of A / An -----
(1) সাধারনতঃ Singular Countable Noun এর পূর্বে
"a" বা "an " বসে ।
Example : 1. He was eating a banana.
2. I got a postcard from Raju.
3. It takes two to make a quarrel.
(2) অনির্দিষ্ট কোন বাক্তি বা বস্তুর পূর্বে "a" বা "an " বসে ।
Example : 1. I saw a man on the street.
2. An old lady came to our house yesterday.
(3) কোন একক বা ইউনিট বুঝাতে "a" বা "an " বসে ।
Example : 1. An ounce is enough.
(4) একজন বুঝাতে Proper Noun এর পূর্বে "a" বা "an " বসে । এক্ষেত্রে Proper Noun গুলো Common Noun হয়ে যায় ।
Example : 1. You are a Nazrul , I see.
2. I think he is an Othelo.
(5) অপরিচিত বাক্তির নাম বা পদবির আগে "a" বা "an " বসে ।
Example : 1. A Mr. Hasan came yesterday.
2. An Iqbal came here to tell me the news.
(6) Profession, Occupation, Rank, Religion, Nationality ইত্যাদি বুঝাতে যে সকল Noun ব্যবহার হয়, তাদের পূর্বে "a" বা "an " বসে ।
Example : 1. He is a businessman.
2. Kamal is a salesman.
3. He is an engineer.
4. Mr John is a Christian.
(7) Educational Degree এর ক্ষেত্রে "a" বা "an " বসে ।
Example : 1. He is an M.A.
2. My uncle is a graduate.
(8) দর, ওজন , মাপ বা গতি সুচক Word এর পূর্বে "a" বা "an " বসে ।
Example : 1. Fish sells at two hundred taka a kilo.
2. He goes home once a week.
3. She can type forty words a minute.
(9) Each বা Per অর্থে hour, day, month, year এর পূর্বে "a" বা "an " বসে ।
Example : 1. He earns one thousand taka a month.
2. He drives the car at 50 miles an hour.
10. সমগ্র জাতি বুঝাতে "a" বা "an " বসে ।
Example : 1. A student should obey his teachers.
2. A cow is a domestic animal.
3. An elephant is a wild animal.
11. What যুক্ত Exclamatory Sentence এ What এর পরে "a" বা "an " বসে ।
Example : 1. What a nice pen it is !
2. What an exciting game football is.
12. Few , Little, lot of, ইত্যাদি শব্দের আগে "a" বসে।
Example : 1. There are a few books on the table.
2. He has a lot of money.
3. There is a little water in the glass.
