Affirmative to Negative ( Only / Alone যুক্ত )

Transformation of Sentences  

Only / Alone :  

Transform the sentences into negative.

Rule 1 .       Only / Alone  যুক্ত  বাক্য  ----


(A)  Only / Alone দিয়ে কোন  মানুষ কে বোঝালে  --- Negative 
করার সময়  Sentence এর শুরুতে  None but বসাতে হয় । এক্ষেত্রে Only / Alone যেখানেই থাকুক না কেন None but (কেউ না  কিন্তু )  Sentence এর শুরুতে বসাতে হয় ।
Example  : 


1.   Aff:    The old man was alone alive.

       Neg :     None but the man was alive. 


2.    Aff :          Only the graduates should apply.

      Neg :   None but the graduates should apply.


3.     Aff :           He lives alone in the house.

       Neg :     None but he lives in the house.

উত্তরের ব্যাখ্যা -- উপরের ৩ টি Sentence এই Only / Alone দিয়ে বাক্তি / মানুষকে বুঝানো হয়েছিল । তাই Negative করার সময় ৩ টি ক্ষেত্রেই Sentence এর শুরুতে None but বসানো হয়েছে । আরেকটি বিষয় মনে রাখবে Negative করার সময় Only / Alone  উঠে যাবে ।

(B)  Only   দিয়ে কোন কোন বস্তুকে বোঝালে  Negative 
করার সময় ঠিক যে স্থানে Only  থাকবে ঠিক সেই স্থানেই 
Nothing but (কিছু না কিন্তু )  বসাতে হবে । এক্ষেত্রেও Only উঠে যাবে ।

Example : 1.  Aff : Only the moon was visible.
                          Neg : Nothing but the moon was visible.
                   
                     2.  Aff : I have only book.
                          Neg : I have nothing but book.

(C)  Only  দিয়ে কোন সংখ্যা বুঝালে ঠিক যে স্থানে Only  থাকবে ঠিক সেই স্থানে not more than / not less than বসাতে হয় ।

Example :   1. Aff :   He was only twenty.
                       Neg :  He was not more than/ not less than twenty. 

অনেক ছাত্র- ছাত্রী রা এই Only / Alone এর Transformation করতে গিয়ে None but / Nothing but বসাতে উল্টো করে ফেলে । কিন্তু যদি আমরা এটা বুঝি যে, মানুষের ক্ষেত্রে "কিছুনা " (Nothing) শব্দ টা প্রযোজ্য নয় আবার বস্তুর ক্ষেত্রে  "কেউ না "(None)  শব্দ টা প্রযোজ্য নয় । তাহলে আমাদের ভুলটা হবে না । 

তাহলে  Only / Alone বাক্তি/ মানুষ বুঝালে "কেউ না "(None but) বসে এবং Only দিয়ে বস্তু কে বুঝালে "কিছুনা " (Nothing but) বসে  ।
